KANO GOVT QUERIES EMIR SANUSI ON ALLEGED FUND MISMANAGEMENT
Kano State Government has asked the Emir of Kano Municipal Muhammadu Sanusi II to respond to allegations over alleged mismanagement of the Emirate’s funds scandal.
In a query letter signed by the SSG Alhaji Usman Alhaji, the government said following an ‘indictment’ of corruption by the state’s anti graft agency, “the Emir is to Respond within 24 hours”
Our Correspondent Idris Jibrin reports that this is coming 24 hours after, the Kano State Anti-Corruption and Public Complaint Commission on Monday indicted the Emir and recommended his suspension over allegations of misused EMIRATE’S funds, a report of which the commission submitted to the state government.
The Chief of Staff to the Emir, Munir Sanusi, who confirmed the receipt of the query, said the state government sought the response of the emir within 24 hours regarding allegations of misappropriation of funds.
We received the query today (Thursday). The state government has demanded the response of His Highness within 24 hours. The council is studying the content, he said.
Meanwhile, One person has been confirmed dead while several others have been injured at the traditional Durbar, Hawan Daushe conducted at the Emir’s Palace.
The Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II held the event without the presence of Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who was at Bichi Emirate to witness the first Durbar in the newly created Emirate.
According to a letter, dated June 4 and signed by Ibrahim Hamza, the director of special duties, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the governor`s absence was due to some pressing engagements.
Subsequently, the Kano Emirate has also cancelled tomorrow’s Traditional Hawan Dorayi to invite all religious leaders for a special prayer in remembrance of the late Emir Alhaji Ado Bayero who died 5 years ago.
