POLICE OPERATIVES DESTROY CAMPS BELONGING TO OSPAC VIGILANTE IN RIVERS
But the leader of the local vigilante group in Omademe community, Samuel Adele in a statement said the the action of the police is surprising.
He explained that members of the vigilante group have no issues with the police.
Adele therefore wondered why the Police decided to raid their camps while calling on relevant authorities to call the police anti-cultism unit to order.
Some residents of Ikwerre local Government Area also expressed concern over the sudden destruction of the OSPAC camps.
The action of the Police against OSPAC is coming after a member of the vigilante group shot dead an Air Force officer during an altercation in Omuanwa Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state last Tuesday.
A detachment of military officers presumed to be the deceased Air force officer’s colleagues had consequently stormed Omuanwa the next day, burnt the OSPAC camp in the community as well as houses belonging to the family of the assailant
But it was learnt that OSPAC camps in Omademe and Igwuruta communities both in Ikwerre Local Area were raided by the Police team on Friday.
Our correspondent reports that the operatives stormed the camps and destroyed properties of the local vigilante group, while the members escaped.
Recall that the former Igwuruta OSPAC Commander, Mr. Promise Nnawali was declared wanted by the Nigerian Police force for the murder of one Princewill Ogbondah and Peter Opurum on the 21st of November, 2020.
He was arrested on the 31st of December 2021 by men of the Nigerian Army, over one year after the alleged murders.
Also,on the 13th of November, 2021, the Rivers State Police Command declared the Elele Security and peace Advisory Committee (ESPAC) Commander in Ikwerre Local Government Area Mr. Iheanyi Wosa, AKA “Fucking Naira” wanted over missing of a 17 year old student.
