Congo finally buries independence hero Patrice Lumumba

Asingle tooth, all the remains of the country’s first prime minister, was interred in a somber ceremony. The tooth was recently returned six decades after his death by former colonial ruler Belgium.

The remains of Congolese independence hero and first Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba were laid to rest in Kinshasa on Thursday, the country’s independence day, 61 years after his assassination by Belgian-backed rebels.
